THE CONCEPT OF "HODL".

The word HODL is a misspelt word. It was a misspelling of HOLD.The HOLDING concept is an idea which helps investors to bypass the trap of dumping their coin due to the short term volatility of cryptocurrencies( the value appreciation and value depreciation of cryptocurrency).

Like I said before, HODL is a misspelt word.Instead of HOLD it was written HODL by the post author. However, it was widely adopted by cryptocurrency investors as an idea that could be the solution to problem of the unpredictable rising and falling in the value of cryptocurrencies.

ORIGIN

The word "HODL" came into existence on December 18, 2013.It started from a post made in Bitcoin investor's forum.The forum contains investors who share their views, ideas,opinions and plans towards Bitcoin. They discuss about bitcoin and the economy. But on the 13th day of December 2013, a member of the forum shared a post titled, "IAM HODLING".Instead of IAM HOLDING he wrote IAM HODLING.He misplaced the letter "L".

The misspelt "HODL" went viral and spread across media.From then on,it became an established ideology within the cryptocurrency world.It was adopted as a terminology to express keeping of acquired crypto assets without selling quickly.

PREMISES(CONTEXT)

One could wonder, what can make the investor to share such post? Why did the investor come up with the post "IAM HODLING"?

Permit me to take your mind back to 2013 and the Bitcoin price events. The year 2013 was an indeed a great year of boom for Bitcoin.The value of Bitcoin appreciated from $15 in January to $1,100 at the beginning of December which delivered a return of 7,230%.

With a high volatility rate,the value of Bitcoin dropped from $716 by 39% to $438 in the middle of December. Based on this unfortunate volatility incident that cropped up,the investor originated the post "IAM HODLING" to express his firmness and determination to keep his Bitcoin irrespective of the circumstances at hand.This invariably says IAM A LONG TERM HOLDER OF BITCOIN.

CONCLUSION

Cryptocurrency investors should know that acquisitions of crypto assets is similar to acquisitions of undeveloped landed property. If you want to sell and make gain,you must allow the land to appreciate in value.You dont have to sell out the asset because of a peanut gain.
